A Lifetime Looking Up
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the night sky. What began as childhood curiosity soon became a lifelong passion for astronomy, astrophotography, and sharing the wonders of the universe with others.
Today, that passion has become Night Sky Tours—a premium stargazing experience designed to inspire visitors from around the world. Every tour is personally guided, combining science, storytelling, mythology, local history, and breathtaking views through professional telescopes under some of the darkest skies in South Africa.
Whether it’s your very first time looking through a telescope or you’re an experienced astronomy enthusiast, my goal is simple: to leave you with a sense of wonder that stays with you long after the night is over.
Why Astronomy?
Astronomy is one of the few experiences that truly changes perspective.
Looking at Saturn’s rings, the craters of the Moon, or a galaxy millions of light-years away reminds us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. It’s an opportunity to slow down, disconnect from everyday life, and reconnect with nature and the universe.
I believe astronomy should never be complicated or intimidating. My aim is to make it accessible, engaging, and unforgettable for guests of all ages by explaining the night sky in a way that is both educational and entertaining.
Why the Karoo?
Few places on Earth are better suited to stargazing than the Klein Karoo.
Thanks to its dry climate, low humidity, minimal light pollution, and hundreds of clear nights each year, the Karoo offers exceptionally dark skies and remarkable viewing conditions. From here, the Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon, while countless star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and planets become visible to the naked eye and through our telescopes.
Combined with the region’s peaceful landscapes and unique natural beauty, the Karoo provides one of the finest astronomical experiences in the Southern Hemisphere.
Qualifications & Experience
My experience has been built through years of practical observation, continual learning, and thousands of hours under the stars.
Night Sky Tours combines modern astronomical equipment with carefully researched scientific knowledge, Southern Hemisphere astronomy, cultural star lore, and engaging storytelling to create experiences that are both accurate and memorable.
Every presentation is carefully prepared to ensure guests leave with a deeper appreciation of the universe while enjoying an enjoyable and relaxed evening under the Karoo sky.
